Embedded hiring on HireSetu, read across employers

Written on 2026-09-11 from the 38 Embedded listings open then, across 27 employers; 35 are open today. It describes clusters and proportions rather than individual listings.

Embedded is the one industry on HireSetu where the postings name the physical layer. SPI, UART, I2C and CAN each appear on a sixth or more of the listings, and five postings name the oscilloscope as a required tool — no other field on the site lists bench instruments. Half the roles are in Bengaluru. Eight in ten ask for zero years. And a third of the list is not an open job at all but an internship, apprenticeship or graduate trainee scheme, a higher share than any other engineering field here.

What the postings name that no other field does

The skills tally reads like the contents of a lab bench. Embedded systems as a phrase leads, then C++ and RTOS tied, then embedded C, then Python — scripting is expected here as it is everywhere on the site. Below those come the buses: SPI and CAN on seven listings each, UART and I2C on six, microcontrollers on six, and oscilloscopes on five. AUTOSAR on four is the automotive marker; FPGA and SoC on four each mark the roles that sit nearer the silicon. The practical reading is that an employer here will ask about a board the candidate has brought up and a protocol they have debugged with an instrument, not about a web framework. A resume that lists Arduino projects is closer to what these postings want than one that lists a cloud certification.

A third of the list is an internship or a trainee scheme

Twelve of the thirty-eight listings are structured programmes. HARMAN alone lists four internships in Bengaluru — Bluetooth, C++ on Linux, certification, and a general student intern — which together read as a single summer-intake for its audio and automotive business. Honeywell lists a master's-level embedded intern in Hyderabad, Philips an embedded-systems intern in Pune. Infineon's two young graduate trainee roles are validation work, and its company write-up explains why nearly every Infineon listing on the site is about proving silicon behaves on real hardware. greyorange has a graduate trainee in firmware quality assurance, Knorr-Bremse an embedded-software apprentice, Liebherr a design trainee in hardware-in-the-loop testing, and Quest Global a graduate trainee in electronics and embedded systems in Thiruvananthapuram. Where these programmes describe what they want, it is fundamentals — C, memory, interrupts, a real project on a real board — and they are the listings a final-year student should read before the open roles.

Bengaluru's space startups are hiring embedded engineers

Four listings come from companies building spacecraft and satellites, all in Bengaluru: Bellatrix Aerospace wants an embedded systems engineer with two years, GalaxEye Space Solutions one at zero to one, and NewSpace lists both a robotics engineer and an avionics engineer at one to three. With Honeywell Aerospace's embedded engineer alongside, this is a small but distinct cluster that did not exist in the Indian graduate market a few years ago. The postings ask for the same fundamentals as the automotive roles — RTOS, C and C++, bus protocols — with flight-software and avionics vocabulary on top. For a candidate who wants embedded work with a mission attached, these five are the ones to read.

Outside the metros

Embedded hiring is more spread out than VLSI, which is almost entirely two cities. Vadodara has three listings — a junior hardware engineer and a junior embedded software engineer at AWENGWORKS, and Hilti's embedded software engineer at two years. Ahmedabad has Jenex Technovation's firmware engineer, Jaipur has ElectroGlobal's associate, Coimbatore has UST's embedded developer, Noida has vecmocon's EV systems engineer, and Primeform Labs runs a walk-in for junior embedded engineers in Hyderabad's Miyapur. Nearly a third of the sample is outside Bengaluru, Pune and Chennai. A candidate who cannot relocate to Bengaluru has more of this field open to them than the headline share suggests.

Reading the sample

One listing carries the tag without the work — Eaton's product stewardship and sustainability associate is a compliance role, not an embedded one. The rest are what they say. Thirty-eight listings from twenty-seven employers is a modest sample, with no employer holding more than four and most holding one, so no single company defines the field here. What the sample says with confidence is that embedded hiring reaching HireSetu is entry-level, Bengaluru-weighted but not Bengaluru-only, a third structured intake, and tested on the hardware interfaces and instruments the postings name.
