Quick answer: An entry-level embedded role in Chennai where a big chunk of the week goes to solving other engineers' wireless problems, with the rest spent building demos and sample firmware. The wireless stack you actually know counts for more than a long peripheral list.

HireSetu's note
Debugging from a bug report
The customer-facing half is what freshers underestimate. You get a description, sometimes a partial schematic, sometimes just "it stops working after an hour", and you have to reproduce it, narrow it down and explain it back. That means reading code someone else wrote with a logic analyzer running. If every project so far has been code you wrote and fixed yourself, this is the step up.
Two wireless stacks, deeply
The requirements name Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/BLE and IEEE 802.15.4 together, because the team picks up whatever product lands on its desk. You do not need all three. One project where you brought a stack up, paired a device and read a sniffer trace carries more weight than a list of courses. Embedded C and C++ are the daily tools, and FreeRTOS or Zephyr shows up in most sample apps. Microchip's own IDE and code configurator are free to download, and a weekend with them is cheap preparation.
Two years in, the doors this opens
Applications engineering sits between the silicon and the customer. Two years in, you know one wireless family properly and have app notes with your name on them. That is a workable bridge into a silicon design team, a field applications role with more customer time, or product marketing. A good first job if you like explaining things and can live with interrupted work.
Sort the support model out early
Ask how customer requests reach you: a ticket queue, a field engineer, a distributor, a direct email from a design team. Ask which product line you would start on and who reviews your first app note before it goes public. Travel is listed at up to a quarter of the time, so find out where it goes, whether that is customer visits or training sessions. The answers tell you how much of the week is heads-down.
