What Finance hiring looks like for candidates

Finance listings range from banking operations and FP&A to risk/analytics-adjacent roles. Numerical clarity, Excel/SQL literacy, and domain vocabulary are recurring signals.

Finance hiring on HireSetu, read across employers

Written on 2026-09-11 from the 19 Finance listings open then, across 13 employers; 19 are open today. It describes clusters and proportions rather than individual listings.

Finance on HireSetu is two fields sharing one tag, and the tag hides the difference that matters most. One is capital markets and banking, concentrated in Mumbai, where several of the listings are mid-level roles wearing an entry-level label. The other is corporate finance and FP&A inside technology and industrial companies, spread across Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and the National Capital Region, where the zero-years tag is accurate. Nineteen listings from thirteen employers is a small sample, and more than a third of it is hybrid — the highest share of any field on the site.

Mumbai is capital markets, and the grades are not entry-level

Six of the nineteen roles are in Mumbai, and they are the ones a candidate should read most carefully. Morgan Stanley's listing is an Investment Banking Associate with a one-to-six-year band: that is a post-MBA grade at a bulge-bracket bank, and it carries a fresher tag on HireSetu only because the pipeline could not tell. Barclays lists an AVP in securitised products and conduit structuring — assistant vice president is a mid-level corporate title, whatever the zero-years tag says — alongside an associate. AlphaSense wants an associate financial analyst at one to two years, eClerx a financial-markets operations analyst, and Citi a banking support officer. Read the title and the grade, not the tag: of these six, perhaps two are genuinely open to a graduate.

Corporate finance is where the freshers are

The first row is the entry point. HPE's Financial Analyst 1, RTX's P1 financial analyst, Flex's junior financial analyst, Ameriprise's analyst and PwC's specialist in its internal finance function are all graduate-grade roles in a company's own finance team, doing planning, reporting and analysis for a business rather than for clients. KPMG's Kochi listing is at its global delivery centre — the firm's shared-service arm — rather than a client-facing team, which is the same distinction the accounting page draws for KPMG's Bengaluru roles.

Citi's four are operations by another name

Three of Citi's finance-tagged listings — sanctions and confirmations at the C09 grade in Pune, a cash securities settlement officer in Pune, and a banking support officer in Mumbai — are transaction and control work of exactly the kind the Operations page describes, and a candidate interested in them should read that page's account of how Citi's grade codes and city pattern work. The fourth, a testing analyst in Gurugram, is software quality assurance and carries the finance tag only because of the business unit it sits in.

Same employer, same tag, opposite jobs

Barclays lists three roles here and they could not be more different from one another. The AVP in conduit structuring is a securitisation role for someone several years into a markets career. The associate in Mumbai is a general entry into the bank. And the personal banker in Gurugram is retail branch banking — a customer-facing sales and service role with no connection to the other two beyond the employer's name. All three carry the Finance tag and a fresher label. A candidate searching this field for a Barclays role has to decide which of three careers they are looking at before reading further.

Where the roles are, and how they are worked

Mumbai holds six, the National Capital Region four across Gurugram and Noida, Bengaluru three, and Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad and Kochi the rest. Seven of the nineteen are hybrid, a higher share than data science or accounting, and the hybrid roles are the corporate-finance ones — Ameriprise, Citi's testing analyst, Barclays' AVP — rather than the operations roles, which are on-site with their cut-off times.

Reading the sample

Rubrik's payroll industrial trainee in Bengaluru is a chartered-accountancy articleship seat of the kind the Accounting page explains, not a graduate job. No named tool appears on four or more listings; the postings describe reporting cycles, control frameworks and market products rather than software. Thirteen employers and nineteen roles is the smallest sample with a write-up on the site, and the sharpest thing it says is a warning: the seniority tags on this page mislead more often than anywhere else, and the grade in the title is the reliable signal.
