Any branch, one campus filter
The degree line does most of the deciding: B.Tech or Dual Degree from an IIT, every branch considered. Mechanical, chemical, civil, all fine, as long as you can show quantitative and computational strength. Prior finance experience is optional, so what counts is evidence you have handled data and models for real, through a project, a course or an internship.
You would land in one of six areas: asset liability management, product behavioural modelling, debt issuance, investment management, cash and liquidity, or capital and risk analytics. Placement follows your skillset, so find out which desk is hiring early.
The maths worth revising
Statistics, time series, optimisation, simulation and machine learning all appear as preferred exposure, and any one of them gives you something concrete to talk about. Get comfortable explaining a forecasting model's assumptions and where it breaks.
The AI requirement is where many freshers will struggle. You need a working sense of how transformer models generate output, how agentic systems are assembled, and what their limits are. Deutsche Bank also asks for judgment on ethical use of data and AI outputs, so have a view on when a generated answer should be distrusted.
Python at the top of the page
Lead your CV with Python work on complex datasets: analysis, automation, validation and reconciliation. Put SQL next, since it is only desirable, then quantitative modelling, then any fixed income or risk knowledge at the end.
Communication sits high among the must-haves. Pick one project and be ready to explain what the numbers meant for a business decision, in plain language. The role is based in Mumbai; confirm the weekly office pattern when you talk to HR.
