HireSetu's note
Sitting on the monitoring side
The borrowers are already funded. You inherit a book, not a pipeline: annual reviews, financial performance checks on stressed loans, covenant monitoring, regulatory reporting, and rating grades you recommend for clients and their facilities. That's a different job from sizing a new deal or drafting an approval memo from scratch.
Off-cycle rating changes come up when something in the portfolio moves before the annual review is due. Your counterparts are credit approvers, credit officers and bankers, and most of that contact lands in your afternoon.
The qualification line is narrow
MBA with a finance specialisation, or CA. Nothing else substitutes, and the 0-3 year band means a fresher with the right degree is in the running.
Real estate exposure is preferred, not required, so a general credit or audit background can work. What can't be thin is the accounting: ratio analysis, cash flow, and how a property loan's stress shows up differently from an operating company's. The AI tools line reads as a real expectation that you'll pick up whatever the desk is using.
A 1 pm start, US hours at the back end
The shift begins at 1 pm IST for overlap with US counterparts. Your morning is free, your evening is not, and the load follows the US calendar: annual review season, quarter-ends and regulatory deadlines bunch up.
It's onsite in Bengaluru, no hybrid cushion. Ask what a realistic finish time looks like outside the busy weeks, and how the portfolio is split across the team, since that decides how many clients one associate carries.
Revise the plumbing of a loan
Get comfortable with the facility documents before you walk in: term loans, counterparty lines, and what the covenants attached to each one actually test. A leverage covenant and a debt service coverage covenant break for different reasons, and what follows a breach matters as much as the breach itself.
On the real estate side, an evening on rent rolls, occupancy, lease terms and cap rates will make the sector language land. Affordable Housing in the US leans heavily on tax credit and subsidy programmes, so skim how those deals get financed before you sit down.
