Quick answer: The firmware here is the code running inside a NAND flash chip, and it sits alongside transistor-level design, RTL and full-chip Verilog validation. This is a design-and-validation role first, with firmware as one part of it.

HireSetu's note
The job behind the title
Your work runs the whole chain: architecture development, product definition, detailed transistor-level design, test plans, system integration and verification, some RTL, firmware for the flash's own internal operations, and full-chip Verilog validation. Analog and digital both land on your desk, which is unusual for a role with firmware in the title.
If your firmware experience is C on Linux, RTOS tasks or device drivers, this is a different world. The code sits close to the silicon, and the design work sits close to the physics.
The line between required and nice to have
Verilog, digital logic fundamentals, mixed-mode design and validation, and hands-on use of ncsim, Design Compiler, Formality and PrimeTime are the real gate. Add TCL or PERL for gluing flows together. Analog circuits only need a basic grasp.
NAND and non-volatile memory design is written down as a strong plus, so you can apply without it. The AI-assisted coding line is unusual for a chip listing: they want someone using AI tools to automate design and analysis flows. Bring a real example, or at least a real opinion.
Put Verilog and validation first
Lead with Verilog and validation work: which block, which testbench, what you caught. Then transistor-level or mixed-signal design, since the role keeps a foot in both. Name the EDA tools you have actually driven instead of listing them as a skills row. A TCL or PERL script you wrote counts as evidence, more so if it shortened a run or caught a bug.
Points to confirm
Ask which slice you'd own. The listing spans RTL, transistor-level design, firmware and validation, and teams divide that differently. Relocation level is marked TBD, so ask what it covers before you plan a move to Hyderabad. The policy text near the bottom, performance appraisals, transcripts, telling your supervisor before an interview, is written for current employees. Applying from outside, none of it applies to you.
