HireSetu's note

A campus-hire profile

The degree list is engineering-specific: electrical, electrical and computer, computer engineering. The 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA is a hard screen. The Career Accelerator Program and the training language around it are built for someone in their first year or two of work. If you already have years of verification experience, the structured first year may feel slow, and the scope here sits below a lead's.

The week runs on regressions

Most days start with a regression that ran overnight. You check failures, sort real bugs from testbench noise, fix or file them, then rerun. Coverage reports tell you which bins are still empty, and that drives the next tests you write.

Gate-level simulation is slower and more painful than RTL, so expect long runs and waveform digging. Scripting is how you keep the queue moving: Tcl, Python or Perl to submit and sort cases.

Topics worth revising

The fundamentals that matter for this work: setup and hold, metastability, clock domain crossing, FIFO depth, FSM design. On the verification side, know code coverage against functional coverage, what constrained random does, and where assertions fit. Reading a waveform and explaining a bug is the core skill. Pick one scripting language and know it well enough to automate a simple regression flow.

Details to settle before you accept

Ask which product line or business group you'd join. Verification work on chip programs ranges from small analog-mixed-signal blocks to large SoC subsystems, and the tools and pace differ. Confirm whether the team uses UVM, formal, or a homegrown testbench style, and how work is split between RTL and GLS. Find out how much of the first months is CAP classroom time against project work. Also ask how many verification engineers share the regression queue: that decides how much of the week is firefighting.
