Quick answer: The bar here is narrow and real: strong C++ in ROS 2 (Humble or later) with managed lifecycle nodes, plus evidence you've built node monitoring and recovery rather than only application-level nodes. It's onsite in Coimbatore North, on robots where a fault has to end in a safe state.

Job Description
Design and implement ROS 2-based software systems on embedded/edge platforms, from architecture through working, tested code.
Own node lifecycle and orchestration - launching, monitoring, health-checking, recovering, and shutting down ROS 2 nodes in a managed, deterministic way.
Build and validate system-level state machines governing operating modes, fault escalation, safe-state entry/exit, and recovery sequencing.
Implement fault detection mechanisms (timeouts, health watchdogs, data-freshness checks, diagnostics aggregation) with detection logic kept cleanly separated from protective/recovery actions.
Build application-layer robot behaviour on top of shared infrastructure, so new modes or capabilities extend the system without reworking it.
Define and maintain command-response interfaces between a controlling UI/operator layer and the robot's software stack.
Work within a formal systems engineering process — contributing to and building from requirements, architecture, interface design, and risk/safety analysis documentation.
Adapt to and take ownership of different robotics projects and subsystems as priorities shift.
Provide technical leadership on assigned projects - guiding architectural decisions, reviewing code and design proposals, and coordinating cross-functionally with systems and hardware teams.
Excellent communication skills
Ability to work effectively with cross functional departments.
Good record keeping skills.
Produce accurate documentation.
Able to organize and prioritise own work schedule to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
Leads multiple projects.
Strong C++ experience in a ROS 2 context (Humble or later), including managed/lifecycle nodes.
Demonstrated experience designing or implementing node monitoring/recovery systems — not just application-level ROS 2 nodes.
Comfort with state-machine-based system design and precondition-driven mode/state transitions.
Experience deploying and debugging on embedded/edge compute platforms (Jetson family or comparable).

HireSetu's note
Ground to cover before an interview
Get lifecycle states and transitions solid first: unconfigured, inactive, active, finalised, and what configure, activate, deactivate and cleanup each do to a node. Then the monitoring vocabulary, heartbeats, watchdogs, timeouts, data-freshness checks and diagnostics aggregation. Roots keeps detection logic separate from the protective action, which is a design question about where the reaction lives and which component owns the recovery sequence, so be ready to sketch that split on paper.
Jetson-class boards bring their own grief: thermals, tight memory, timing jitter, getting a build to start at boot. If your ROS 2 work has all been on a laptop, cross-compilation and embedded deploys are the gap to close.
Faults and safe states are the daily work
Cleaning machines and industrial robots share floor space with people, so a fault can't be logged and ignored. Safe-state entry and exit, escalation paths and recovery sequencing get designed, reviewed and tested. Much of the job is reading requirements, architecture and risk documents and writing code that matches them, with record-keeping good enough that another engineer can pick up your work.
Modes and capabilities are meant to extend shared infrastructure without a rebuild, so architecture reviews and design proposals sit inside the routine, with systems and hardware people in the room. It carries leadership on assigned projects, which in practice means owning the calls and reviewing other people's code.
Which machine you land on shapes everything: a mobile cleaning robot working a mall basement and a fixed industrial cell fail in different ways. Ask that early, and ask who else is on the team. The constant is modes, watchdogs, faults, recoveries, and a robot that always returns to a state you can trust.
