- Building or changing topologies between devices, and documenting the changes
- Building and deploying Virtual Machines (using ESX vCenter)
Lab Administrators are the first stop along the escalation track for Jr. Lab Administrators. Lab Administrators are expected to mentor and teach Jr. Lab Administrators the ways of the lab.

What You Need To Bring
- Lab Administrators will have hands on experience with (U/Li)nix configuration and a desire to expand knowledge of Networking and UNIX concepts.
- Lab Administrators need to be able to configure and troubleshoot JUNOS based routers.
- Lab Administrators are expected to pursue Juniper Certification to expand their knowledge of the routers they support.

Tickets, cables and rebuilds
Your day gets shaped by trouble tickets raised by people across the company, and by the physical side of the lab: racking and installing equipment, swapping failed hardware, pulling old cable out of racks, adding devices back into the asset database, and tidying areas that have drifted from policy. Software work here means re-installing lab devices and standing up virtual machines in ESX vCenter.
It is onsite in Bengaluru and hands-on in the literal sense. Racks get dusty and kit gets heavy. Anyone picturing a desk, an IDE and a sprint board should look elsewhere in HPE.
JUNOS and Unix decide who fits
The requirement that filters people is hands-on Unix or Linux configuration plus the ability to configure and troubleshoot JUNOS routers. HPE also expects you to keep working towards Juniper certification while in the role, so treat that as part of the job rather than a nice extra. A JNCIA already in hand, or routers you have configured in a college lab or a support job, puts you ahead of candidates who only know Linux commands.
Mentoring sits alongside the ticket queue: you are the first escalation stop for junior lab administrators and expected to teach them the lab's ways of working. That, plus the expectation of working with little supervision, suits someone with a year or two of lab or network support behind them. A fresh graduate with only coursework will find the teaching half hard. When you speak to the team, ask how escalations get split between the administrators.
