HireSetu's note
The travel line is the real filter
Seventy-five percent travel across the country and region is a working condition, not a footnote. Chennai is the base; the plants are wherever the contracts sit. How the region is carved up and how many nights a month that adds up to is the detail worth settling early.
Hindi and English, both written and spoken, because the reports and the on-site conversations run in both. The physical requirements are small but fixed: lifting 3 kg and distinguishing colours. Colour matters when you are reading indicator states and wiring on a panel, so anyone with colour vision deficiency should treat this as closed.
Valves and instruments carry the technical load
Solenoid valves and field instrumentation for pressure, flow and temperature are the background they would like you to bring. A mechanical or instrumentation diploma with either on it is the closest thing to a head start here. Degree, diploma or ITI, the door is open at all three, and 0-2 years in service is the band.
If you are new to this, a week on the fundamentals pays off: how a solenoid coil fails open or closed, what a 4-20 mA signal from a pressure transmitter represents, why a valve seizes after a long shutdown. The troubleshooting rests on that.
Half the job is the trail behind the valve
Preventive maintenance visits, non-warranty replacements, customer returns, shutdown documentation, service reports. Every case is a valve moving through a process with a customer waiting at the other end.
Field service attracts people who want to be hands-on, yet this listing gives equal weight to tracking returns, coordinating with the service and cross-functional teams, and getting reports in on time. Someone who keeps a clean log has an easier week than someone who is brilliant with a spanner and sloppy with the paperwork. It is also a plant-floor role with shutdowns, permits and safety rules, so comfort with being told how to work near running equipment is part of the deal.
