HireSetu's note
Where the bar actually sits
Two things decide whether you fit. First, GD&T and tolerance stack-up, along with the engineering calculations that back a design decision. Second, the release side: Creo or SolidWorks models turned into detailed drawings and pushed through Enovia PLM with proper documentation control. The 0-2 year window is real, so a fresh graduate with one solid Creo or SolidWorks project and a working grasp of ASME Y14.5 is in the running.
Aerospace standards such as MIL-STD-810, DO-160 and SAE ARP 4754/4761 take time to absorb and no fresher knows them cold. Being able to open one and follow its logic is enough to start. If your CAD experience is decorative modelling, this will feel like a different discipline: drawings here have to be makeable and inspectable by someone else.
The week is drawings, checks and revisions
Most days sit between concept design and detailed drawings. You'll modify existing parts as often as you create new ones, run calculations that support design integrity, and apply DFMA thinking so a shop can actually build and assemble what you drew. Quality checks against Eaton and customer standards come before anything is released, and the on-time delivery of drawings is tracked.
Global cross-functional teams mean some early or late calls to overlap with colleagues in other time zones, and written clarifications that need to land clearly the first time. Test results and field failures come back to design, so expect to explain why a part behaved the way it did. The job rewards people who are careful with detail and comfortable defending a number.
