Quick answer: A hardware design job that runs from requirements documents through schematic, Altium layout, board bring-up and qualification testing. Altium 21 or newer for boards of 4 to 10 layers, plus real bench time with scopes and logic analyzers, is the core of it.

Partner with the best
As an Engineer 1, you will support electronic subsystem developments through individual contribution and teamwork. The qualified candidate will be assigned developments ranging from conceptual design to validation testing and commercial release. Support for released designs will also be in scope which include troubleshooting/diagnostics and maintenance. This position will have regular communication with the Houston Texas office and/or the Farnborough UK office depending on the assigned project.
As an Engineer 1, you will also be responsible for:
- Capturing electrical design specifications and generating requirements documents
- Design concept and simulation/modeling using CAD software and AI.
- Component selection and schematic building
- Altium PCBA layout to generate commercial Cad file set for the board to be build and ordered.
- Testing and qualification of finished PCBA in an engineering lab environment.
Desired Electrical Skills
A successful candidate will have good coverage of the following skills:
- Strong skills with PCBA layout in Altium 21 or higher. Typical boards will be 4-10 layers.
- Experience in an electrical lab with Oscilloscopes, Logic analyzers, meters, etc. for testing and debugging electrical circuits and systems.
- A solid fundamental understanding of PCBA electronics down to the component level.
- Analog circuits using op-amps, diodes, transistors etc. Basic data acquisition using ADCs
- Small to medium microcontrollers from TI C2000/MSP430 family or similar from ST, Microchip etc.
- Exposure to embedded firmware development is a plus.
- Familiarity with PCBA ordering and assembly process to support purchasing of boards
- Familiarity with proper lab soldering techniques to support modification of PCBAs is a plus. Professional engineering documentation of design and procedures
Fuel your passion!
To be successful in this role you will
- Have an electrical/electronics engineering degree from an accredited college
- Have fluent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Have flexibility to interface with the USA team that is in a later time zone (12 hours offset)
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with teams, customers and stakeholders

HireSetu's note
A normal week at the bench
Design work here runs end to end: write the requirements, capture the schematic, lay out the board, then get it back and prove it works. A good chunk of the week is bench time, probing a board with a scope or logic analyzer and working out why a prototype misbehaves. Support for boards already released sits alongside new projects, so troubleshooting and maintenance requests turn up while you are mid-design.
One line to skim past: the opening question about sales and proposals. The responsibilities are all hardware.
Altium 21 and boards of 4 to 10 layers
The layout ask is specific, and the layer count matters. Boards that dense mean stack-up choices, placement and clearance rules, not just joining up nets. If you have taken a board through ordering and assembly, be able to talk about the files that went out and what the fabricator and assembly house needed from you. Name the tool version you have actually used.
Revise down to the component level
Get comfortable with analog circuits at component level: op-amps, diodes, transistors, and basic data acquisition through ADCs. Then pick one microcontroller family and learn it properly. TI's C2000 or MSP430, or an equivalent from ST or Microchip, all appear here, and knowing clocking, peripherals and interrupts on one part beats vague familiarity with five. Embedded firmware is listed as a plus, so a strong analog and layout background stands on its own.
The 12-hour overlap with Houston
The role asks for flexibility to work with a USA team 12 hours behind Pune. Their afternoon is your evening, so some calls will land late. Baker Hughes states flexible hours, which softens the edges, but the overlap is real. Decide whether that suits your routine before you spend time on the application.
