HireSetu's note
The users are circuit designers
Day to day, this is software work: writing and maintaining applications and automated EDA flows that build, validate and deliver custom cells and macros, then fixing them when a designer hits a failure. That includes unit, integration and regression tests, chasing down the failures they surface, and code reviews with the engineers who own the surrounding tools.
Shell scripting matters more here than in most graduate software jobs. Flows are stitched together in Tcl, Bash or tcsh on Linux, and jobs run in parallel on on-premises machines and in the cloud, sometimes through a scheduler like LSF. Comfort with a Unix terminal, pipes and job control decides how fast your first month goes.
You'll work with engineers and circuit designers across Arm's other sites, so written updates and reviews take up real time.
Revision that pays off
Two things carry a graduate application for this kind of role: clean code in Java or Python, and the ability to work out why something broke. Practise data structures and object-oriented design until you can write them without an IDE, and get used to reading a stack trace, narrowing a failing test and reasoning through a bug out loud.
Learn enough Tcl to read a script and enough shell to write one. Both are listed as desired skills, and both come quickly if you already program. A basic grasp of digital electronics or a semiconductor flow helps you follow what designers are saying without needing to become one.
Version control and automated testing are named as fundamentals, so have something concrete to say about branching, pull requests and tests you wrote yourself, even from a college project.
Relocation support exists, including visa sponsorship, but the visa application fee and the Immigration Health Surcharge are the candidate's cost. Factor that in if you'd be moving to Bengaluru.
