Programmes, spreadsheets and customer replies

The engineers you shadow produce Scheduled Maintenance Services for the Airbus fleet and answer requests from airline customers. That means documents, data and coordination, with GSuite named as the toolkit. You also get pulled into a technical data improvement project as a Business Operations representative, which is process work on aircraft system data.

If you imagined this internship on a hangar floor with tools in hand, reset that picture. The output is the maintenance programme an airline plans its checks around.

Part-M and Part-145 before you apply

The requirements name EASA Part-M and Airlines/MRO Part-M/145 specifically, and that is unusual for an internship posting. Part-M covers continuing airworthiness and how a maintenance programme gets approved. Part-145 covers the organisations approved to carry out the work. Pull out your air law notes and get comfortable with both outlines, because these terms run through the daily work.

The posting also asks for awareness of compliance risks and acting with integrity. That fits a team whose output feeds airworthiness decisions, so treat it as part of the job description.

Built for students and fresh AMEs

This sits at student level and asks for an AME qualification or an engineering degree, plus general aircraft knowledge and basic Part-M familiarity. A final-year AME student or a recent aeronautical or mechanical graduate with the regulation modules behind them is the natural fit. Coming from IT or a non-aviation branch leaves a lot of ground to cover before the jargon makes sense.

Negotiation-level English is listed, and a second language is a plus. You will be reading and writing for engineers and airline customers, so expect the communication side to count as much as the technical.

Two directions out of the internship

Maintenance programme work sits on the continued airworthiness side of aviation. From here, the usual paths run toward maintenance planning, CAMO or technical services roles at airlines, MROs and OEMs. The technical data improvement project is a different flavour: process and data work on aircraft systems, closer to business operations than to airworthiness engineering.

Both are sensible starting points. Which one you spend most of the internship near depends on where the team places you, so pin that down early.
