Job Description
Imagine working for one of the pioneers in the payment technology space. The kind of company that's been setting the bar for the way people pay and get paid for more than 50 years and continues to innovate on a global scale. Well, that company exists and it's Visa.
Yep, Visa.
Imagine, in a single day, the diversity of transactions that Visa manages, from gaming enthusiasts who buy virtual goods to advance a level, to a small business merchant launching their first e-commerce business to a large consumer brand hitting their largest single-day sale. Now multiply transactions and interactions like that by millions on a global scale that's Visa. It is a multi-billion-dollar market that has experienced year-over-year growth!
As a New Grad Software Engineer you will contribute to a team that develops and manages end-to-end technology solutions for Visa's core business (credit and debit transactions) and key stakeholders as well as new solutions that promote the growth of digital commerce and mobilization.
This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.
Some areas you might work on as New Grad Software Engineer are:
- Maintaining and enhancing VisaNet the network that allows fast, seamless and secure electronic payments to happen
- Manage cloud identity through researching and developing data protection reporting platform harnessing reporting tool APIs
- Create ad hoc quality control unit test cases for a programming language developed at Visa and develop new features to enhance its productivity
- As an Engineer in one of the payment technology teams you will help design, enhance and build our services for Customers in an agile development environment.
- You will be working with colleagues, who will help, support and challenge you every day. Unit testing, code reviewing, and regular check-ins for continuous integration is just part of your DNA.
- You will see the code you’ve written going to production in few days and used by huge customer base
Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

HireSetu's note
Short loop from editor to production
Most first jobs park graduates on internal tools for a year. Here the loop is short by design: write it, unit test it, get it reviewed, watch continuous integration pass, and it's live. Tests, review comments and check-ins aren't overhead; they're how a change survives contact with real card transactions.
Which team you land on decides the rest. One path is maintaining and extending VisaNet, the network behind card payments. Another is a data-protection reporting platform built on identity and reporting APIs. A third is adding features and quality-control test cases to an internal programming language Visa developed itself, where there's no public documentation and no Stack Overflow answers, so you learn it from the people around you.
The role is hybrid, with at least three days a week in the office in Bengaluru; your manager sets which days.
Groundwork worth a few evenings
Payments has its own vocabulary: authorization, clearing, settlement, interchange, chargebacks. Nobody expects a fresher to know it cold, but being able to say what happens between a card tap and a merchant getting paid is free to learn and shows you've looked past the job title.
Testing deserves the same effort. If your college projects had a couple of token test cases, build something small with proper coverage and read up on mocking and integration tests. In an agile team where code ships in days, a graduate who treats tests as part of the feature settles in faster than one who treats them as a chore.
VisaNet moves transactions across more than 200 countries, so the engineering around it leans on reliability and throughput as much as new features. How a card network holds up under failure and peak load is worth understanding; the scale is the whole point of the job.

How to apply
- Open Visa's careers site with the Apply button.
- Create a Workday account for Visa. Workday logins are separate for every company, so an account made for another employer won't work here.
- Upload your resume and check every auto-filled field; Workday often misreads dates and job titles.
- Answer the screening questions, submit, and look for the confirmation email from Workday.
No fees, ever. HireSetu never charges candidates, and no genuine employer asks for money to apply, interview or join. If anyone asks you to pay, stop and report the job.
