HireSetu's note
Four to five years, hands on
The hard filters are the 4-5 years and a bachelor's in IT or equivalent. Everything else sits under that experience bar, which tells you the team wants someone who has already run production networks. Network security and LAN/WAN experience appear in the same list, so treat both as required. Deep knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols is the one item marked highly desired, so there is a little room: if your device and security work is solid and your protocol internals are patchy, that is the gap to close in your first months.
Closer to internal IT than a provider core
Network engineer covers a wide range in India: service provider routing, cloud networking, data centre fabric, NOC shifts. This one reads as internal IT for a large site or campus. Wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches and controllers that employees depend on, faulty hardware to swap out, users walking over with problems. Your week will mix console work with conversations. If the last four years were pure BGP and MPLS in a telco core, the rhythm here is different.
Diagrams and upgrade nights
Two duties sit apart from break-fix support: producing accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning, and giving detailed input on hardware and software selection. That is design work, and it belongs to someone who owns a site's network rather than passes tickets along. Diagrams or design notes you have written are worth carrying into the conversation.
Switch and firewall upgrades are listed as a duty too. In most companies those run in change windows outside business hours, so ask how the team schedules them and whether weekends come into it.
