Ignore the customer service in the job title

Nothing in the body of this posting is customer service. It is structural design of telecom structures: steel lattice towers, steel and concrete monopoles, rooftop poles and antenna mounts, plus the anchor bolts and foundations underneath them. The client inputs you work from are antenna details, shelter information and lease area drawings. If you are a civil engineer who wants design work, the odd title is your opening, since plenty of candidates will scroll past it.

Lead your CV with STAAD Pro

STAAD Pro, MS Tower, RSTAB or RFEM and Excel are the primary tools. AutoCAD sits in the additional list, so a CV that opens with AutoCAD reads backwards for this team. Put your STAAD Pro work at the top and name what you modelled: a lattice tower, a monopole, a footing. Final-year projects count. Excel deserves more space than most freshers give it, because the job includes building calculation sheets for the checks the software does not handle.

The codes carry the real weight

Running a model is the easy half. Knowing which clause governs a member check is the skill. The listing names AS3995, ANSI/TIA-222-G and H, IBC2015, BS EN 1993-1-1, IS 875 Part 3 and IS 800, which is far more than a fresher can hold. Pick two: IS 800 for steel member design and TIA-222 for telecom structures, and understand how their load combinations differ. German is marked preferable, which points to European client work. Even basic German separates you from the queue.

Two years in, the niche travels

Telecom tower design is a small field. Engineers who can assess an existing tower against a client's new antenna load and then propose a fix are useful to tower owners, infrastructure firms and consultancies serving them. The strengthening side, flat plates on monopoles, bridge and transition stiffeners, half pipes on leg members, foundation jacketing, is hard to learn from a textbook. That work is what fills a portfolio early.
