Quick answer: A hands-on Bengaluru role supporting electrical peripherals on a vehicle: display cluster, VCU, BMS, MCU, lamps and switchgear. The college project team requirement is a genuine filter, and the work is bench and vehicle testing as much as documentation.
From River's job posting
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a high-energy Graduate Engineering Trainee to support development and lifecycle management of critical electrical peripherals. This role demands you to work on specific components that define the rider's interface and the vehicle's intelligence - Such as, Smart Display Cluster (TFT, LCD, Telematics), Vehicle Control Unit (VCU), Battery Management System (BMS), Motor Control Unit (MCU), Lighting Systems (Lamps), and HMI Peripherals (Horn/Switchgear) etc.
Development support: Support Senior engineers with the end-to-end development of assigned peripherals (Display, VCU, Lamps, etc.).
Requirements Management: Support with Authoring and maintaining detailed Product Requirement Documents (PRD) and technical specifications, translating high-level vehicle goals into component-level engineering targets.
Integration & System Logic: Work on system level behavior and logics, defining hardware-software interface and over all Vehicular communication.
Supplier Coordination: Support technical discussions with Tier-1 and Tier-2 vendors and help manage timelines for tool development, sample submissions (A-sample to T0-sample), and manufacturing validation.
Validation & Troubleshooting: Execute rigorous bench-level and vehicle-level testing. Use diagnostic tools to identify and resolve hardware-software integration bugs or functional failures.
Ideal Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics Engineering.
Experience: 0 to 2 years.
Project experience: Must have active experience in a college project team (e.g., FSAE, BAJA, Robocon, Satellite Team, or a major technical capstone project).
Problem-solving mindset, structured logical thinking, and eagerness to learn.
Electrical Fundamentals: Strong understanding of circuit theory and basic electronics.
Design & Tools : Experience with PCB design tools like KICAD or Altium and Software tools like Eclipse IDE.
Hands-on Electronics: Comfort with soldering, wire crimping, harness fabrication, and bench instrument operation.
Communication Protocols (Bonus): Basic familiarity with automotive communication protocols like CAN is a plus.

HireSetu's note
The project team line is a filter
A degree alone won't clear this one. River wants someone who has been on a college project team: FSAE, BAJA, Robocon, a satellite team, or a serious capstone. That's the closest thing here to proof you can solder, debug and finish something with a deadline attached. If your only hands-on work is lab sessions done for a grade, this posting will be a stretch.
The 0 to 2 years window means fresh graduates and people a year or two into a first job. Nobody is expected to arrive knowing vehicle electrical architecture.
Put the bench on top of your resume
Anyone can write circuit theory on a CV. Fewer can say they built a harness, crimped connectors, soldered a board and debugged it on a scope. Lead with that, then the tools: KiCad or Altium, and Eclipse IDE. Validation and battery management sit in the skill list too, so a BMS project or a test-and-failure writeup carries real weight.
CAN is listed as a bonus. Picking up the basics before you apply is a small amount of work and it shows you know what travels on a vehicle bus.
Your slice of the peripheral list
Trainees get handed part of that component list, and the day-to-day looks different depending on whether it's lamps or the BMS. Ask which peripherals you'd start on, because that also decides how much supplier contact you get. Sample stages run from A-sample to T0 with Tier-1 and Tier-2 vendors, and chasing tool timelines is part of the job, not a distraction from it.
The role is onsite in Bengaluru and leans on the vehicle and the bench, so expect to be near hardware most days.
