Medpace is growing rapidly, and we are currently seeking full-time, Junior Software QA Test Engineers (Validation Engineer) to join our growing Information Technology (IT) team in Mumbai office.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with developers and end users throughout the software life cycle to ensure that applications meet the needs of the users;
- Perform testing using a variety of test methodologies, including manual, exploratory, and automated testing;
- Create and maintain test cases, test plans, and other documentation for projects;
- Participate in constructive peer review of test cases;
- Identify and report software defects and inconsistencies;
- Review, analyze, and supplement requirement specifications, and ensure 100% test coverage; and
- Help facilitate execution of acceptance test scripts by end users
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computeer Science, Information Systems or related field;
- Experience writing and executing manual testing for complex software applications; experience in automated testing is a plus!
- Experience communicating and working within cross-departmental teams consisting of software developers, department leads, and end users;
- Excellent computer skills; analytical, written, and oral communication skills; and
- Experience in the regulated healthcare industry is a plus.

The experience line is the real bar
Automated testing is the only plus in the qualifications. Everything else is asked for outright, and the line that filters resumes is experience writing and executing manual testing for complex software applications. A Computer Science or Information Systems degree is the floor. The differentiator is testing work you can point to.
If you're a fresher, a testing internship where you actually wrote cases, ran them and logged defects is the closest thing to what's wanted. If you're switching in, manual QA on any large application counts, including support or operations work where you reproduced and documented bugs. Automation tools help, but they don't replace that.
Validation means everything is on record
The role is titled Validation Engineer for a reason. Systems in a regulated healthcare setting have to be shown to work, and the proof is the paperwork: test plans, test cases, results, peer reviews. Ask on a first call how the manual and automated work splits in a normal week, since automation is optional here.
Expect to spend real time reading requirement specifications and writing cases before you touch the application, then defending those cases in peer review. Clear writing carries as much weight as finding bugs. A defect report nobody can follow, or a case a colleague can't repeat, creates work for the whole team.
