Where the bar actually sits

The degree list is wide, engineering, computer science, electronics, electrical, instrumentation, so that isn't the filter. The filter is the combination: hands-on manual and automation testing, a real tool in Selenium or Katalon, and enough programming in C#, C++, Java or similar to write and maintain the scripts yourself. Postman or an equivalent for REST API testing also appears as a requirement.

Everything under preferred is genuinely optional. Industrial instrumentation or automation products, Kali Linux, lab hardware, CI/CD: useful if you have it, and the listing invites people who meet many but not all of the qualifications. A tester with two years of Selenium and Java who has never touched an oscilloscope is a reasonable applicant here.

The lab side of the job

Emerson wants you to support and maintain the laboratory facilities and test infrastructure its global engineering teams use. For a software tester that's a bigger slice than the phrase suggests: real setups, connected hardware, environments other people depend on from another time zone. Documentation review sits in the same list of duties, so part of the job is checking that what's written matches what the software does.

Ask how lab time splits against script writing, and how work gets handed over to Pune from teams in other regions, since that decides what most weeks look like. A test bench you built, instruments you wired, a shared QA environment you kept alive: that goes on the first page of your CV.
