Quick answer: Two things carry this job: Python solid enough to write scripts that keep running when nobody is watching, and Excel strong enough to take apart a finance team's largest spreadsheets. The team reports into Citi's Chief Operating Office and exists to cut manual reporting work for USCC leadership.

HireSetu's note
Report cleanup, week after week
The reports already exist and they run on a cycle, so the job is finding the manual steps inside each one and replacing them with something that runs on its own. Expect to open workbooks, trace where every number comes from, and ask the person who maintains the file why a column exists before you touch it. Python or Knime does the repetitive part once you understand the logic.
The listing names version control and error handling, which tells you the scripts get shared and edited by other people and will meet a bad input file one day. Code that worked once on your laptop is not the standard here. AI tools are listed as a working skill, so use them to draft parsing code or untangle a messy formula, then check what comes back.
The finance side is not decorative. Expense discipline is the reason this team exists, so read up on how a P&L works and how costs get allocated across business units.
Freshers with two halves
The experience bar is deliberately low, and a fresher with one decent Python project and solid Excel has a real shot. What you cannot skip is the finance half: P&L, expense lines, how a unit's costs are booked. A commerce graduate who taught themselves Python and a CS graduate curious about money both fit. Fill in the missing half before you apply, because the work leans on both from the first week.
You sit close to decisions that business heads make, since the team answers to the Chief Operating Office and supports USCC leadership. That is unusual access for a first job. After a couple of years this kind of work tends to lead toward finance transformation, automation or analytics teams.
Hybrid in Mumbai means some office days, so plan the commute and ask how the week splits. Ask too whether the apprenticeship converts to a full-time role and roughly when, since that decides how much the move is worth.
