HireSetu's note
You're joining a pool
Cisco keeps this advertised so a recruiter can reach out when a matching team has a slot. Your application doesn't tie you to a team, a product or a particular Indian office. When someone does contact you, that's the moment to ask which org, which stack, which site, and what hybrid means in practice, two days in or three.
Apply if you want to be in the system, then keep applying elsewhere. Nothing about this moves on your timeline.
Freshers with real code behind them
Zero years of experience is the stated bar, which puts this in reach of final-year students and recent graduates. Coursework on its own won't carry much. An internship, a project you can explain line by line, a small open-source contribution or something you actually deployed gives you concrete material.
The listing leans on secure coding and design thinking. Most freshers meet both properly for the first time at work, so a working sense of what they mean is enough. If you're switching in without a technical degree, the screening runs through fundamentals, and that's a longer road to walk.
Fundamentals worth a few evenings
Pick one language, Java, Python or C++, and know it past the syntax: collections, memory, error handling, and writing a unit test with JUnit or pytest. Data structures and algorithms are the standard bar at large product companies, with operating systems, DBMS and networking alongside them. Cisco's business is networking, so that last area carries more weight here than at a web company.
Learn Git properly. Get comfortable with the security basics you'd write into code: validating input, avoiding injection, keeping secrets out of the repo. Writing clear comments and design notes matters in a role this heavy on documentation.
