The degree is the filter
Eight skill areas, every one of them pitched at Basic Understanding, the lowest level Caterpillar uses. That reads as a trainee hire: MRP, forecasting, inventory reporting and supplier management are all things you'll be taught here. Mechanical is stated as the degree requirement, so treat it as one.
A final-year project or internship where you handled a bill of materials, chased a vendor or kept a schedule is the closest thing a mechanical course gives you to this work.
Premium freight means something went wrong
Premium freight shows up early in the responsibilities, and it sets the tone. That's the extra cost of rushing material when a line is about to stop. You'll watch stock in the plant, in the warehouse and at critical suppliers, and the useful skill is spotting a slipping delivery before it becomes a stoppage.
Expect mornings on the planning system and afternoons on the phone with a supplier, renegotiating dates to keep the build on track.
Planning, buying and scheduling get mixed up
A buyer picks suppliers and negotiates price and terms. A production planner decides what the line runs and when. This role sits in between: the parts are already sourced, and your job is getting them in on time and in the right quantity, tracking supplier performance metrics and following the procurement plan through.
If contract negotiation and sourcing strategy are what you're after, this seat won't give you much of either.
Aurangabad, five days a week
The posting says onsite five days a week, and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar is Aurangabad, in Marathwada. It's a plant town, not the Pune or Mumbai belt, so the move deserves some thought before you apply. Relocation is offered, which matters if you're graduating elsewhere in Maharashtra. Visa sponsorship isn't, so this is for candidates who can already work in India. The window closes November 12, 2026.
