The one-year bar is a real filter

A recognised engineering bachelor's is the entry ticket, and Black & Veatch sets a minimum of one year of related experience. Related here means instrumentation and controls work in an engineering or EPC setting: instrument selection, sizing calculations, datasheets, loop drawings and the code checks behind them. A year spent in another discipline counts for less than a year spent producing I&C deliverables.

The posting describes deliverables and calculations in general terms, so your CV has to be the specific part. Name the documents you actually authored or checked and the standards you worked to. A list of coursework tells a reviewer almost nothing about whether you can carry a package.

Tasks, interns and the occasional proposal

The listing has you assigning work to entry-level engineers and interns and mentoring them. That's a lot of people-facing duty for an associate seat with a one-year floor, and it tells you the team runs with thin senior cover: you'll be pulling inputs from other disciplines and keeping your own deliverables to schedule and budget.

Client contact is written in too, along with support for business development and pursuit work. In a consultancy that means proposal input, man-hour estimates and meetings where a technical decision gets explained to someone who isn't an engineer. Which projects the Pune office handles, water or power or something else, decides the instrumentation you'll actually learn in your first two years, so get that clear early.

The growth direction sketched out is technical depth first, then other disciplines, with performance management and corrective actions later if you take the people route. That's an honest map for a large EPC firm, and it explains why the mentoring language shows up this early.
