Two qualifications in one line

The qualification line decides everything: MS or PhD in AI/ML, with exposure to formal methods and verification. That pairing is rare. A standard ML master's covers models, data and training and never goes near specification languages, model checking or theorem proving. A verification background without the AI half misses the rest of it. This internship is built around that exact combination, so if you hold both, you are in a small and relevant pool.

If your AI degree is solid but your formal methods experience is a course you took once, say so plainly and be able to describe what you actually specified or proved. The work builds tools that adopt formal methods, and a shallow footing will show. The logistics are simple: Bengaluru, six months, January 2027, some flexibility on the start.

Expect to build, and to sit with engineers

This is a development role. The core task is taking how teams at Airbus work today, which the job calls heuristic and unstructured, and designing an agentic AI framework that turns that into a structured process judged against defined criteria. Then you test it on a real system of interest with a specified workflow and deliverable.

A good share of the time goes into studying how teams operate, collecting their needs, and shaping a tool that handles multiple standards and evaluation criteria. Systems engineering vocabulary runs through all of it: requirements, architecture, verification and validation. Revise how those fit together, and bring one formal methods project you can talk about in detail, including what it checked and what it missed.

If you pictured six months of model training, adjust your expectation. The balance leans toward software architecture, process design and working with people who own the workflow.
