Quick answer: The testing happens on real RFID hardware: readers, tags and firmware, with Python and Bash doing the data work. It's QA for a system where the radio, the device and the software all have to agree.

What We're Looking For

Designs, develops, and executes comprehensive test strategies and automation for the Advanced Locationing Technology (ALT) RFID product line. Leads hardware-software system integration testing (readers, tags, and firmware) to validate tracking accuracy and system reliability. Leverages technical expertise to design innovative validation methods for complex locationing solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establishes test requirements and validation plans for moderately complex RFID system integration projects.
  • Prioritizes validation scenarios to ensure critical RF performance and locationing metrics are verified first.
  • Completes all QA phases, from initial test planning through final regression, ensuring products meet strict quality and accuracy standards.
  • Develops and maintains QA documentation, including test cases, specifications, and detailed defect reports.
  • Explores and applies automation frameworks and RF simulation tools to enhance testing efficiency.
  • Develops custom test scripts (e.g., Python, Bash) to automate data analysis and streamline debugging.
  • Provides root-cause analysis for complex defects, collaborating across hardware, firmware, and software teams.
  • Works with minimal supervision, providing mentorship to junior-level QA engineers and technicians.

Minimum Qualification -

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

Preferred Qualification -

Advanced Degree in a relevant field.

HireSetu's note

Testing that involves a lab bench

QA here means readers, tags and firmware in the same loop. A defect can come from the radio, the tag, the firmware on either of them, or the software reading the data, and working out which one is the job. Success gets measured by reading accuracy and locationing precision.

If your QA experience is web or mobile apps, the loop will feel slower. You set up a physical scenario, run it, and a result shifts because a tag moved a few centimetres or someone walked through the field.

Python and Bash carry the load

Custom scripts for analysing data and debugging are part of the duties. Test runs on readers and tags produce logs and measurement dumps that are painful to read by hand, so you build the tooling that parses them, spots the odd run and reproduces a failure without a person watching the whole time. RF simulation covers the scenarios you can't stage repeatedly in a room.

Ask what's already automated and what still runs by hand. That tells you how much of the first few months is writing scripts and how much is standing at a bench.

Practical things to nail down

Work mode deserves a direct question. The role is posted as onsite in Bengaluru while the benefits section leans on hybrid work and flexible hours, so find out what a normal week looks like before you commit to a commute.

Also ask which slice of the Advanced Locationing line you'd test. Readers, tags and firmware are different daily work, and you'd rather know now. The role includes mentoring junior QA engineers and technicians, so ask how the team splits test planning, execution and review.

How to apply

  1. Open Zebra Technologies's careers site with the Apply button.
  2. Create a Workday account for Zebra Technologies. Workday logins are separate for every company, so an account made for another employer won't work here.
  3. Upload your resume and check every auto-filled field; Workday often misreads dates and job titles.
  4. Answer the screening questions, submit, and look for the confirmation email from Workday.
