HireSetu's note
The mechanical degree is a hard filter
The listing asks for a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and 0 to 2 years of demonstrated mechanical design. That rules out diplomas and other branches, however strong the CAD portfolio. Demonstrated means something you can walk through out loud: a final-year project, an internship, an assembly you designed and had reviewed. Drafting standards are listed as basic understanding, which in practice is reading a drawing and explaining why one tolerance is tight and another is loose.
Drawing work and hands-on work land in the same week
The tasks run from new product design and stress analysis through to BOM creation, part numbers and production drawings. The lab side is not decorative: you assemble prototype tools and test fixtures, prepare test requests and write up test reports when testing finishes. Weatherford's equipment goes into oil and gas fields, so the hardware is heavy and built to survive rough conditions. Being comfortable with hand tools and measuring instruments matters, because the drawing and the physical part have to agree.
Navi Mumbai, onsite, with some travel
The role is onsite in Navi Mumbai, with up to 10% travel, domestic and possibly international. Ask where the desk sits relative to the lab, since you will be moving between design reviews, the workshop and the test area. The requirement about physically responding to emergency situations tells you this is a site environment, not a remote desk job.
Confirm the level and the reporting line
This posting carries two titles: Graduate Engineer Trainee on the job board and Design Engineer I in the document, filed under a career level called Professional I. Those can map to different pay bands and probation terms, so find out which one appears on the offer letter. The description mentions a dual report, so ask who the two managers are and which product line or R&D project you would join first. Career development here is written as something you drive yourself, with regular check-ins with your line manager.
