Quick answer: The R&D label is genuine, but the output lands with Ubisoft's QC teams: automation tools, engine utilities and early Gen AI experiments that cut manual testing effort. Python plus a working grasp of AI/ML and RAG is the entry bar, and a computer science degree is required.

  • Deliver iterative development outputs by incorporating feedback and aligning solutions with product and FQC requirements.
  • Document technical findings and learnings to strengthen knowledge continuity, reuse, and long-term maintainability.

INNOVATION

  • Evaluate new technical approaches, tools, and frameworks that enhances QA/QC automation, leveraging exposure to automation, engine tooling, and AI/ML concepts.
  • Propose improvements to existing automation systems, integrations, and workflows based on hands-on development and debugging experience.
  • Build functional components from exploratory prototypes, validating feasibility in real testing environments.
  • Analyse moderately complex, multi-dimensional problems, balancing technical feasibility, integration constraints, and QC usability under senior guidance.

HireSetu's note

Degree and Python are the gate

The qualification line is short: B.E, B.Tech, M.Tech or MS in computer science, or equivalent. Treat that as a filter, not a preference. Python for scripting and automation is the other one, described as foundational, which means code that runs unattended against someone else's system, not notebook experiments.

Everything else is softer than the skills list makes it look. C++ and C# sit under Nice to Have, and so do Jenkins and TeamCity. AI/ML and Gen AI/RAG sit in the middle, at working understanding: enough to explain embeddings, retrieval, and why a RAG pipeline hands back a confidently wrong answer. A fresher with one solid Python automation project is in range here.

The users are testers, and they give feedback fast

The job purpose spells out the direction of travel: designs and prototypes get integrated into existing testing systems in the QC domain. The people using what you build are game testers, and their complaints shape the next iteration. Expect a mix of framework work, engine-level utilities, small AI/ML tools, and the unglamorous part, working out why an automated bot broke after a game build changed underneath it.

Documentation is listed as a responsibility of its own. At a studio this size that means findings get written up so the next engineer can pick them up. If you dislike recording what you built and what failed, this part will drag.

Details to pin down in the interview

Ask which game or QC team the automation supports, and whether you would stay on one project or rotate. Find out how a prototype becomes something a tester relies on daily: whether your team keeps maintaining it or hands it over to QC engineers, since that decides how much debugging stays with you.

The Gen AI and RAG work is early-stage by the listing's own wording. Ask what exists today and what is still exploratory, because a research-flavoured project and a shipping tool demand different weeks from you. Onsite in Pune is stated plainly, so confirm how many days a week that means in practice.
