HireSetu's note

Reports other people depend on

Most of the job is business-facing reporting: pulling data out of Oracle, the business application systems and the corporate warehouse, then building the report or dashboard on top. Business Objects carries the main load, with Spotfire and Tableau named as extras, so part of the estate sits in one of those. Debugging live reports and clearing production issues for a global user base is a standing duty with its own time each week. Ask how the support rota works and which hours it covers.

Revision that pays off

Oracle SQL is the muscle to build: joins, grouping, subqueries, and how fact and dimension tables connect in a warehouse. PL/SQL and Java/JSP sit in the web layer around the reports, so know how a JSP calls a procedure and gets data back. Business Objects has its own universe and report structure. If your hands-on experience is Power BI or Tableau, say so plainly, and read one schema diagram, keys and relationships, before you turn up.

Background this suits

A bachelor's in IT and a 3.0 GPA are the stated bar, so you can come in fresh from college or with a couple of years behind you. What separates people on the preferred list is communication and comfort with interrupted work: this desk gets pulled between new builds, user requests and live issues in the same afternoon. If you have one project where you built a report or dashboard end to end, lead with it. It maps closely onto the day-to-day here.

Worth confirming early

The role is onsite in Bengaluru, so ask about shift timing and whether support duty rotates. Ask which business groups you'd cover, since training and working sessions with planners and finance teams are built into the job. And ask for the split between new reporting work and fixes to what's already live. That ratio tells you more about your week than the tool list does.
