HireSetu's note
Who tends to land this
The education bar is a degree in commerce, finance or an MBA with a relevant specialisation, so a fresh graduate can apply. More than a year in financial markets counts as a bonus, not a gate. The daily work still needs someone who has handled real prices: if you've done fund accounting, custody operations or valuations, you already know how the cycle behaves. A financial markets certification is a bonus too, nothing more.
Hard filters and soft language
Microsoft Office is genuine. Excel carries the day: large pastes, lookups, pivot tables, reconciling thousands of rows where one wrong cell becomes a wrong price. Bloomberg is named alongside Reuters and IDC, so being able to pull a quote and check a corporate action on a terminal is worth describing in your own words. Fixed income sits in the skills list for a reason, and thinly traded bonds take longer to get right than equities. The rest, communication and attention to detail, is the usual language.
Pricing basics worth a re-read
Missing, Variance and Stale are the three control reports the team runs, so learn what sets each one off: no price from the source vendor, a price far from yesterday's or from the second vendor, a price unchanged for days. Fixed income is the harder half of the portfolio: clean and dirty price, accrued interest, day count conventions, yield and spread on bonds that trade rarely. Corporate actions change a price legitimately, so a split, dividend or merger needs a proper adjustment, not an override. Get an outline of futures, forwards, options and OTC instruments, since client portfolios carry all of them.
Daily clock, rotating shifts
Pricing runs daily and client reports go out on an agreed schedule, so the cut-off is fixed and exceptions get escalated inside it, not parked. State Street serves global clients and asks for adaptability to different shifts, so ask which shift you'd be on, how often it rotates and where the handover goes. This is Pune-based, full-time, in a global custodian's operations team; a good chunk of the day is systems, spreadsheets and email to people in other time zones. Late hours come with daily valuation work, so settle the shift question early.

How to apply
- Open State Street's careers site with the Apply button.
- Create a Workday account for State Street. Workday logins are separate for every company, so an account made for another employer won't work here.
