HireSetu's note
The hands-on part decides everything
onsemi asks for a diploma in electronics, and the rest of the requirement is physical: you have handled boards, powered them up, tested them and found faults. You report into senior technicians and the Test & Tune Manager, so someone else sets the weekly plan and you deliver against documented procedures.
Bring-up means checking each rail and interface on a freshly assembled board and working out why it misbehaves. Troubleshooting is the same skill at a smaller scale. Name the boards you have debugged, even if they came from a college project or a repair bench.
Assembly knowledge separates candidates
PCB and PCA assembly flow is marked desirable, and that is where applicants pull apart. Knowing what happens to a bare board before it becomes an assembled one, from placement and reflow through inspection and rework, tells them you understand what you are debugging. If your diploma had a fabrication or assembly module, put it near the top.
Microsoft Office is named as required, and it is not filler. Raw material inventory and lab records have to stay accurate, so a spreadsheet you can keep clean counts as a skill here.
ECOs are the daily routine
Engineering Change Orders drive the rework: an approved change says swap this part or cut this track, you do it to the board and close it out against onsemi's quality specs. Get comfortable reading schematics and layout references, since that is what an ECO points at.
Packing and shipment preparation take a genuine slice of the week, alongside lab upkeep, equipment checks and safety compliance. If the split between bench work and logistics matters to you, ask how it lands in practice. The role is onsite in Bengaluru, so a daily commute to the lab is part of it.
