HireSetu's note

New to LCA

A fresh environmental science or engineering graduate can do this, but the day is not policy reading. You model a product from its bill of materials, add transport, energy and end-of-life assumptions, run the impact assessment and explain the hotspots. Most effort goes into finding clean data and converting units. Try one small product in OpenLCA with a public database before applying. If chasing material weights feels tedious, this job will feel tedious.

After a year or two

Product LCA experience moves well. Common next titles are LCA specialist, ecodesign engineer or product compliance analyst. Some people shift into broader ESG reporting or supply-chain emissions, which leaves the product side. This role also gives EPD programme exposure, useful because more electrical manufacturers need declarations for tenders. Ask whether the team has a senior reviewer path or only project work.

Your CV's first line

Lead with LCA software. EIME is named as preferred, so put it at the top if you have used it. SimaPro, GaBi/Sphera and OpenLCA are the other tools worth listing. Then one line on a study you finished: product, standard followed, impact categories, third-party review if any. Excel belongs too, since inventory data lives in spreadsheets. Add REACH, RoHS or Prop 65 only if you can explain how they affect a product's materials.

Confirm before you apply

The role is onsite in Pune and tied to product engineering teams, so ask how the week splits between modelling, data requests and meetings. Find out which product lines you would cover and whether the PEP and EPD programme is mature or being built. A new programme means more process work and fewer finished declarations. If you are moving to Pune, ask about relocation support early. Also confirm which LCA software and database licences the team uses.
