Test rigs, devices and shipping paperwork

Each month you set up the initial test environment for DSAC analysts, on a time box. Devices arrive from product teams, and you chase them through the shipping and supply chain teams, log them in the equipment inventory, power them up, get them on the network and scan them. Rack and network maintenance, firewall configuration and keeping the lab inside ABB's safety and security rules fill the rest.

The engineering is physical: serial consoles, firmware updates, a LAN link that won't come up. Read the title as test infrastructure and lab operations, with real coordination across IS, shipping and SCM.

A home setup where you built a small network, broke it and fixed it is the most relevant thing you can bring to this.

The required lines and the soft ones

The hard filters are a B.E or B.Tech in Computer Science or Electronics, 0-2 years in the network domain, and networking fundamentals strong enough to debug a fault live. Firewalls and VMware or VirtualBox sit in the required list, so know basic rules and be able to explain how you'd spin up a VM. Embedded comfort is required too: powering a board, updating firmware, serial communication, basic LAN troubleshooting.

Nmap, Nessus and TCP/IP are marked added advantage. You will run scans either way, so a little practice reading Nmap output helps you talk about the work.

The reporting line is an R&D team lead, so it's worth knowing how much project work sits alongside the lab tickets.
