Quick answer: A driver development role on Qualcomm's Modem-RF team in Hyderabad, open to ECE graduates with up to three years of experience. Two things decide fit: strong C on embedded targets, and working knowledge of digital communications and RF theory.
From Qualcomm's job posting
As a leading technology innovator, Qualcomm pushes the boundaries of what's possible to enable next-generation experiences and drives digital transformation to help create a smarter, connected future for all. As a Qualcomm Software Engineer, you will design, develop, create, modify, and validate embedded and cloud edge software, applications, and/or specialized utility programs that launch cutting-edge, world class products that meet and exceed customer needs. Qualcomm Software Engineers collaborate with systems, hardware, architecture, test engineers, and other teams to design system-level software solutions and obtain information on performance requirements and interfaces.
Qualcomm is looking for Modem-RF Wireless SW engineers at levels with 0-3 yrs of experience, with knowledge of RF and Digital Communications. The candidate will develop and validate the software for Qualcomm's Modem-RF Wireless chipsets.
The Modem-RF Software Team at Qualcomm India
Develops drivers for the leading Modem-RF Transceivers in close collaboration with RF Hardware, Modem/Baseband and RF ASIC teams. This is at the core of the Qualcomm’s Communication System solution.
Creates, Develops and Optimizes Modem and RF Transceiver and Antenna / RF Front End algorithms and Software modules to improve System performance, Factory yields and RF Testability.
Provide Modem-RF Driver expertise to investigations of complex RF and Modem issues in a cross-functional Hardware / Software working environment.
Works closely with the physical layer teams in delivering new features to keep Qualcomm Modem performance competitive in the evolving marketplace.
Collaborates closely with RF & Modem Systems, Hardware and Test Engineering during the cycles of product development.
Education Requirements
Masters or Bachelor's in Electronics and Communication Engineering or equivalent
Minimum / Preferred Qualifications
The position requires strong C programming skills with an understanding of RF and/Or Communications systems. The candidate should have the knowledge of digital communications and RF theory. An understanding of embedded real time systems is desired. Experience in LTE or 5G wireless systems is a plus. Must have good communication skills and be a team player.
C and/Or C++ Software Programming and Debugging skills on Embedded real time operating systems/RTOS.
Should have a good understanding of the Software Engineering concepts.
Requires a good understanding of the Wireless communication system.
Knowledge of wireless communication in any of the radio access technologies (e.g. LTE, 5GNR, etc.) is a plus.
Wireless system knowledge and/or background, applicable to Modem-RF Software, Communication theory and Radio architecture.
Modem/Communications device driver development experience is an added advantage.
Demonstrated working knowledge with HW and RF Test equipment (Protocol Test Equipment, Spectrum Analyzer, Oscilloscope, etc.).
Fresh grads need to have a good understanding of C and/or C++, Software Engineering concepts with focus on embedded software, Digital/Wireless Communications, ECE fundamentals and RF Theory.

HireSetu's note
The C here runs on hardware
Qualcomm sets the range at 0 to 3 years and says fresh graduates are in scope, so a bachelor's or master's in ECE with a couple of serious projects is a real entry point. The distinguishing factor is the kind of C. Application, backend or web work won't have taken you near register-level, interrupt-driven code, and that is what this job is: drivers for RF transceivers, sitting between the modem and baseband side and the RF hardware teams. Coming from app development or IT services, the gap is wider than a three-year experience range suggests.
Test equipment shows up in the listing, spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes among it, so any lab time with a communications kit belongs near the top of your CV. Ask which transceiver or which modem generation you would work on, since the team spans several and the day-to-day changes with the answer.
Theory that has to be ready
Digital communications and RF theory are the second filter, and they are expected as working knowledge you can reason with, not exam recall. Modulation and demodulation, sampling, filters, gain and noise figure, linearity, and how a signal travels from the antenna through the RF front end down to baseband. Alongside that sits the real-time embedded side: interrupts, scheduling, timing, and why debugging on target is slower and messier than on a desktop.
LTE and 5G NR appear as a plus. If your coursework touched them lightly, know the protocol stack and where the physical layer sits before you put either on a resume. Datasheet reading is worth an evening too: a transceiver datasheet, with its register maps and timing diagrams, is closer to this job than any textbook chapter.
