HireSetu's note

This is internal IT

Guidewire sells insurance software. This job keeps the company's own infrastructure running. Your users are colleagues.

The defining requirements are comfort in both Linux and Windows, and the ability to automate patching and provisioning on AWS. The AI requirement is not a gimmick: they want you using AI helpers to write and improve that automation. Expect a two-week sprint rhythm and a share of on-call duty.

The base you can't fake

AWS, Linux and Windows administration, and one scripting language (Python, Go, or PowerShell) are the entry ticket. CI/CD experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI is also expected, since you'll be automating pipelines. Ansible, Terraform, DataDog, PagerDuty, and SOAP/OAuth are things you can learn on the job.

If you've never set up a VPC or debugged a Linux service, start there before applying.

Ground to cover before you talk to them

Not interview questions, just the topics that will come up in the work. AWS networking: VPCs, subnets, security groups. Linux: systemd, journalctl, permissions. Windows: patching and basic Active Directory. Scripting: write a Python script that calls a REST API, parses JSON, and handles errors. CI/CD: what each stage of a pipeline does. Ansible playbooks and Terraform state. On-call: how PagerDuty alerts reach you and what an incident looks like.

  1. Open Guidewire's careers site with the Apply button.
  2. Create a Workday account for Guidewire. Workday logins are separate for every company, so an account made for another employer won't work here.

  4. Answer the screening questions, submit, and look for the confirmation email from Workday.
