Quick answer: An early-career data engineering role in Noida built on Databricks and Snowflake. Solid SQL and Python are the entry ticket, and Spark or warehouse time from an internship, certification or your own project is enough to be considered.
From EXL's job posting
As a Databricks & Snowflake Data Engineer, you will work closely with experienced data engineers, architects, and analytics teams to design, build, and optimize modern data platforms. You will be involved in the end-to-end data engineering lifecycle—from data ingestion and transformation to pipeline orchestration, data modeling, and performance optimization.
This role offers a hands-on learning environment where you'll work on real-world business challenges, gain exposure to cloud-based data platforms, and develop expertise in modern data engineering technologies including Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, Python, SQL, and cloud ecosystems.
Responsibilities
- Work with senior data engineers and architects to build, optimize, and maintain scalable data pipelines and workflows.
- Develop ETL/ELT processes using Databricks, Spark, Python, and SQL.
- Design and implement data ingestion frameworks for structured and unstructured data sources.
- Build and maintain data models, data marts, and analytical datasets in Snowflake.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve data pipeline performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and data scientists to understand data requirements and deliver solutions.
- Participate in architecture discussions, proof-of-concepts, and process improvement initiatives.
- Document data flows, technical designs, and implementation details to support operational excellence and knowledge sharing.
- Ensure adherence to data quality, security, and governance standards across data platforms.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- Strong foundation in SQL and database concepts.
- Good programming skills in Python or a similar language.
- Understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling.
- Familiarity with Databricks, Apache Spark, Snowflake, or cloud data platforms through academic projects, internships, certifications, hackathons, or personal projects.
- Basic knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for learning modern data engineering technologies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

HireSetu's note
A first or second data job
The qualifications give this away: Databricks, Spark or Snowflake experience counts if it came from an internship, a certification, a hackathon or a personal project. Teams hiring mid-level engineers don't write that. Freshers with a data-heavy final year, and analysts or backend developers moving across with something built and running, are the natural fits. The architects and senior engineers you'd sit with hold the design calls.
Noida is the location, with no remote option stated, so settle office days with the recruiter early. If your CV leans on Java or web work, lead with SQL and Python and give your data projects their own block. One pipeline built end to end, raw source to a queryable table, deserves the detail.
Most of the week goes into pipelines that already run
New pipelines are the visible part. The daily work is keeping existing ones alive: a job that finishes late, a source that renames a column, a query that slows once volumes grow. Reading logs and tracing where a number went wrong takes up real time.
Data quality sits inside that: duplicate rows, a missing date, a check that should catch a null key before it reaches a dashboard. Spotting a quiet break is what keeps a platform usable. Ask how the team splits new builds from support work, and who gets paged when a pipeline fails at night.
Groundwork that pays off
SQL carries the most weight in this work: joins, aggregations, window functions, removing duplicates from a table with repeated keys. Python next, enough to read a file, loop over records, handle an error and reshape a table without a struggle.
Spark deserves an evening on partitioning and why shuffles cost so much. In Snowflake, warehouse size drives speed and cost together, so learn roughly how a query gets billed. Incremental loads, reruns and late-arriving data turn up in nearly every pipeline; understand what makes a rerun safe.
