Job Description Summary
Analog Devices is seeking an Associate Industrial Engineer to join the Central Industrial Engineering team. This early-career role will support factory performance improvement initiatives across multiple wafer fabrication sites through capacity modeling, data analytics, reporting automation, cycle time reduction, and scheduling optimization. Working alongside experienced Industrial Engineers at local facilities, this position will contribute to the development of cross-site analytical tools and decision-support systems that maximize factory output and enable future expansion planning.
Responsibilities
- Support development and maintenance of cross-site capacity models, factory loadings, and utilization analyses.
- Assist with cycle time improvement initiatives through bottleneck analysis, WIP management, and line balancing activities.
- Analyze factory performance data and identify opportunities to increase throughput, productivity, and equipment utilization.
- Develop and automate reports, dashboards, and analytical tools using SQL, Python, Power BI, and other business intelligence tools.
- Support validation of manufacturing scheduling data, forecasting models, and factory planning assumptions.
- Participate in scenario analysis and what-if modeling to evaluate capacity, output, and resource requirements.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, IT, and Equipment Engineering to support improvement projects.
- Document methodologies, analytical models, and standard work processes.
- Present findings and recommendations to technical and operations teams.
- Build knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing systems, Industrial Engineering methodologies, and factory scheduling concepts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Data Analytics, or related engineering discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship, co-op, or academic project experience in manufacturing, operations research, data analytics, or process optimization.
- Familiarity with SQL, Python, Power BI, Tableau, or similar analytical tools.
- Coursework in statistics, simulation, optimization, data science, or manufacturing systems.
- Exposure to semiconductor manufacturing or other high-volume manufacturing environments.
Work Experience
- 0–2 years of Industrial Engineering or analytical experience.
- Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets and perform quantitative analysis.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively within geographically distributed teams.
For positions requiring access to technical data, Analog Devices, Inc. may have to obtain export licensing approval from the U.S. Department of Commerce - Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the U.S. Department of State - Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. As such, applicants for this position – except US Citizens, US Permanent Residents, and protected individuals as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) – may have to go through an export licensing review process.

HireSetu's note
A genuine entry point
The degree list is wide: industrial, operations research, systems, manufacturing engineering, data analytics. The req type says graduate job and the bar is 0-2 years, so a recent graduate with a solid analytics or optimisation project fits this squarely. The branch matters less than whether you can take a large messy dataset, work out what it says and explain it to someone else.
You'd sit in a central team serving multiple fabrication sites. Most of the people on your calls will be at fabs you've never visited, so clear written updates matter as much as the analysis.
IE basics worth a re-read
Little's Law, WIP, cycle time, throughput, line balancing, bottleneck identification. Six words carry most of the vocabulary here, and they turn up in the responsibilities. Add queueing behaviour, meaning why pushing utilisation past a certain point makes cycle time climb, and the gap between nameplate capacity and what a tool really produces.
Simulation and optimisation coursework is listed as preferred, so dig out whatever tool you used for it and remember your assumptions. Wafer fabs are reentrant: the same lot loops back through the same tools dozens of times, which sharpens every queueing effect you learned in class. Grasping that one point makes the fab data make sense.
A week of models and dashboards
Most of the work is at a desk: maintaining capacity models, pulling factory data, validating scheduling and forecast inputs, building reports and documenting the method behind each one. You'll present findings to teams who know the fab better than you do, and that part is harder than the analysis.
Travel is listed at 10%, so expect a few site trips a year to meet the IEs you work with, which is also the quickest way to understand how a fab actually runs. Ask how the central team splits work with site IEs, and which fab you'd cover first.
