The Role As a Computer Scientist, you will work alongside experienced engineers to build and improve core features in Lightroom. You will contribute to architecture discussions, write high-quality C++ code, and grow your skills across performance, reliability, and cross-platform desktop development. This is a hands-on engineering role with real ownership from day one. What You’ll Do Contribute to the design and implementation of features across Lightroom. Write clean, well-tested C++ code for cross-platform desktop systems. Participate in architecture and design discussions, bringing fresh perspectives and sound technical thinking. Explore and apply emerging technologies where they deliver real value for customers or the engineering team. Work closely with Product Management, Design, and Research to understand customer needs and translate them into technical solutions. Collaborate with engineers across teams to ship features that are reliable, performant, and maintainable. Help investigate and resolve production issues, contributing to long-term preventive improvements. Hold a high bar for performance, reliability, security, and maintainability in the code you write and review. Contribute to improvements in application startup time, responsiveness, and memory efficiency. Follow and help improve team standards around testing, observability, CI/CD, and release quality. Adopt AI-assisted software engineering tools to work more effectively and share what you learn with your team. Learn from and pair with senior engineers, absorbing technical depth across the codebase. Contribute to a culture of engineering excellence through thoughtful code reviews and knowledge sharing. What We’re Looking For Strong proficiency in C++, with a solid understanding of multithreading and systems programming.
