Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) focuses on ensuring software systems are reliable, scalable, highly available, secure, and performant in production environments. SRE combines software engineering with IT operations by automating infrastructure, reducing manual work, improving system reliability, monitoring applications, responding to incidents, and maintaining Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

What They Do

Design reliable production systems, automate operational tasks, monitor applications and infrastructure, optimize system performance, reduce downtime, improve scalability, manage incidents, perform root cause analysis (RCA), implement disaster recovery strategies, and collaborate with development, DevOps, cloud, and security teams.

Daily Responsibilities

Monitor production environments, respond to incidents and alerts, troubleshoot outages, automate repetitive operational tasks, optimize application performance, maintain Kubernetes clusters, configure monitoring dashboards, analyze logs, improve deployment reliability, conduct post-incident reviews, maintain SLOs/SLIs/SLAs, and support software releases.
