Overview
Welding Engineering focuses on the design, selection, qualification, inspection, automation, and quality control of welding processes used in manufacturing, construction, oil & gas, shipbuilding, aerospace, automotive, power generation, and heavy engineering industries. Welding Engineers ensure welded structures meet strength, safety, reliability, and international quality standards.
What They Do
Develop welding procedures, select welding processes, qualify welders, inspect welded joints, analyze welding defects, optimize fabrication processes, support robotic welding systems, ensure compliance with international welding codes, and improve production efficiency.
Daily Responsibilities
Prepare Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), Welder Qualification Records (WQT), inspect weld quality, monitor welding operations, analyze weld defects, coordinate with fabrication teams, perform root cause analysis, support welding automation, prepare quality reports.
