Tool Design Engineering focuses on designing tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, molds, gauges, and special-purpose equipment used in manufacturing processes. Tool Design Engineers develop tooling solutions that improve production efficiency, accuracy, repeatability, product quality, and manufacturing cost.

What They Do

Design manufacturing tools, develop jigs and fixtures, create progressive and compound dies, design injection molds, optimize tooling for production, support manufacturing teams, improve tooling life, and troubleshoot production issues related to tooling.

Daily Responsibilities

Design tooling using CAD software, prepare manufacturing drawings, select tool materials, perform tolerance analysis, design jigs and fixtures, develop press tools, support trial runs, solve tooling issues, coordinate with production teams, prepare BOMs and engineering documentation.
