Product Design Engineers combine engineering principles, creativity, user requirements, manufacturing feasibility, cost optimization, and product functionality to create innovative, reliable, and manufacturable products.
What They Do
Develop new product concepts, create 3D CAD models, evaluate product feasibility, perform design calculations, collaborate with cross-functional teams, optimize products for manufacturing, support prototype development, and validate product performance before mass production.
Daily Responsibilities
Understand customer requirements, prepare concept designs, create 3D CAD models, develop assemblies, perform design calculations, conduct design reviews, prepare engineering drawings, create BOMs, coordinate prototype development, implement DFM/DFA principles, support product testing, release engineering documentation.
