Overview
Piping Engineering focuses on the design, analysis, layout, installation, testing, and maintenance of piping systems used to transport liquids, gases, steam, chemicals, and other process fluids in industries such as oil & gas, power plants, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, water treatment, and process manufacturing. Piping Engineers ensure systems are safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant with international engineering standards.
What They Do
Design piping systems, prepare piping layouts, perform pipe stress analysis, select piping materials, develop equipment layouts, coordinate with process engineers, prepare engineering documentation, supervise installation, and support commissioning activities.
Daily Responsibilities
Prepare P&IDs, develop piping layouts, perform piping routing, calculate pipe sizes, prepare isometric drawings, coordinate with civil and structural teams, perform material take-offs (MTO), support stress analysis, review vendor drawings, participate in site inspections, prepare technical documentation.
