Mold Design Engineering focuses on designing molds used in manufacturing processes such as plastic injection molding, die casting, compression molding, and blow molding. Mold Design Engineers develop tooling that enables high-volume, accurate, and cost-effective production while ensuring product quality, manufacturability, and long mold life.

What They Do

Design injection molds, develop mold layouts, design cooling systems, optimize mold flow, select mold materials, prepare manufacturing drawings, support mold manufacturing, conduct mold trials, troubleshoot molding defects, and improve tooling performance.

Daily Responsibilities

Analyze product CAD models, determine parting lines, design core and cavity, develop runner and gate systems, design cooling channels, select ejector systems, prepare mold assemblies, create BOMs, coordinate with tool room and production teams, support mold trials and modifications.
