UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) / Drone Engineering focuses on the design, development, manufacturing, integration, testing, operation, and maintenance of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for commercial, industrial, agricultural, defense, surveillance, logistics, mapping, disaster management, and autonomous aviation applications. UAV Engineers combine aerospace, electronics, embedded systems, AI, robotics, and communication technologies to build intelligent autonomous flying systems.
What They Do
Design UAV airframes, integrate propulsion systems, develop autonomous flight software, design payload integration, optimize flight performance, conduct flight testing, develop swarm technologies, support certification, and improve drone reliability and endurance.
Daily Responsibilities
Design drone structures, integrate flight controllers, calibrate sensors, develop autonomous flight algorithms, perform flight simulations, conduct field testing, analyze flight logs, optimize battery performance, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, prepare technical reports, support regulatory approvals.
