Structural Dynamics Engineering focuses on analyzing and predicting how aircraft, spacecraft, satellites, launch vehicles, engines, and aerospace structures respond to dynamic loads such as vibration, shock, impact, acoustic excitation, flutter, buffeting, and seismic events. Structural Dynamics Engineers ensure aerospace structures remain stable, reliable, and safe throughout their operational life under real-world dynamic conditions.

What They Do

Analyze structural vibrations, perform modal and harmonic analysis, evaluate dynamic loads, predict flutter, optimize structural stiffness, validate dynamic behavior through testing, support structural certification, investigate vibration-related failures, and improve structural performance.

Daily Responsibilities

Perform modal analysis, conduct harmonic response simulations, analyze transient loads, evaluate vibration characteristics, investigate resonance problems, support ground vibration testing (GVT), analyze flight vibration data, prepare engineering reports, optimize structural designs, coordinate with stress and flight test teams.
