Spacecraft Structural Engineers ensure that spacecraft structures can survive launch vibrations, acceleration loads, thermal cycling, vacuum conditions, radiation environments, and long-duration space operations while maintaining minimum weight and maximum reliability.

What They Do

Design spacecraft structures, perform structural analysis, optimize lightweight designs, analyze launch loads, develop mechanical interfaces, support spacecraft integration, conduct structural testing, and ensure spacecraft survive launch and orbital environments.

Daily Responsibilities

Create spacecraft structural designs, perform static and dynamic analysis, develop CAD models, analyze launch loads, perform finite element simulations, design payload mounting structures, evaluate vibration performance, support environmental testing, review manufacturing processes, prepare structural qualification reports, coordinate with thermal, propulsion, and systems teams.
