Aerospace Software Engineering focuses on the design, development, testing, validation, and maintenance of software systems used in aircraft, spacecraft, satellites, rockets, UAVs, missiles, and aerospace simulation platforms. Aerospace Software Engineers develop safety-critical software that controls flight computers, navigation systems, avionics, spacecraft operations, autonomous systems, mission control systems, and aerospace simulations.
What They Do
Develop embedded flight software, create simulation tools, implement control algorithms, develop mission software, program avionics systems, test safety-critical software, integrate hardware and software systems, and ensure aerospace software meets strict reliability and certification standards.
Daily Responsibilities
Write embedded software code, develop flight control algorithms, debug software issues, perform software testing, analyze system requirements, integrate software with avionics hardware, conduct Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing, review code quality, prepare software documentation, support certification activities.
