Flight Dynamics Engineers develop mathematical models to understand vehicle stability, control, performance, trajectory, and response under different flight conditions.
What They Do
Analyze aircraft and spacecraft motion, develop flight models, study stability and control characteristics, evaluate performance, simulate flight behavior, support autopilot development, and improve vehicle handling qualities.
Daily Responsibilities
Develop six-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) flight models, analyze aircraft stability, perform trajectory simulations, calculate aerodynamic forces and moments, evaluate flight performance, support control system design, analyze flight test data, validate simulation models, perform mission analysis, prepare technical documentation.
