Flight Dynamics Engineers develop mathematical models to understand vehicle behavior, evaluate stability characteristics, analyze trajectories, and support the design of guidance and control systems.
What They Do
Develop flight dynamics models, analyze aircraft and spacecraft motion, study stability and control characteristics, perform trajectory simulations, evaluate flight performance, support autopilot and guidance system development, and validate aerospace vehicle behavior through simulations and testing.
Daily Responsibilities
Create six-degree-of-freedom (6DOF) flight models, analyze aerodynamic forces and moments, perform stability analysis, simulate flight trajectories, evaluate aircraft handling qualities, support control system design, analyze flight test data, perform mission simulations, prepare technical reports, collaborate with aerodynamics and GNC teams.
